...SPECIALIZING IN OUR OWN IMAGINATIONS...
ANNOUNCING OUR MorzArt SPECIAL EXHIBIT, SILENT AUCTION,
and ART SUPPLY DRIVE BENEFITING CAMP C.O.P.E.
Local, emerging artists and sculptors, MorzArt will be
hosting an exhibition and silent auction for their
unique sculptural works on Veterans' Day Weekend,
November 12th and 13th in historic downtown
Bastrop. In a show titled “Outta the Woods: Through a
Thicket of Ideas”, MorzArt will showcase a variety of
their wooden and clay sculptures, of which
approximately 25 works will be available for silent
auction.  From the proceeds of the art auction,
MorzArt will benefit Camp C.O.P.E., an organization
based in Dallas that hosts therapeutic workshops for
children of deployed, wounded, or fallen service
members.  In conjunction with the art auction,
MorzArt is organizing and accepting donations of art
supplies needed by
Camp C.O.P.E. for their art therapy
activities.
The creative entity, “MorzArt”, is a collaboration of
talents between the husband and wife team, Robert
and Jamaica Morz.  It is at their studio in The Lost
Pines, where the imaginative world of MorzArt
originates. They describe their creative process as a
“flash of lightning from the Creator”, a method
primarily spontaneous and often random. It is this
divine inspiration that is honored in the uniqueness of
each of their original creations, and therefore they do
not mold or duplicate any work. It is the visual goal of
MorzArt to produce imagery never seen before and
they keep to the sincerity of one-of-a-kind originality.
When viewing an original piece, it is MorzArt's hope
that one takes a moment to reflect beyond the basic
form or subject and find the obscure images or
messages contained within.
Art Auction and Art Supply Drive to
benefit Soldiers' Children
For Immediate Release
With a desire to share their collection of original works
while benefiting a cause for Veterans, the “Outta the
Woods” Silent Auction and Art Supply Drive promises to
be unique and fulfilling experience. Jamaica Morz knows
well the impact of a parents military service and the
resulting behaviors, emotions, and physical conditions
that can impact entire families.  She is the daughter of a
four-tour disabled Vietnam Veteran, and became aware
of Camp C.O.P.E. from Laura Hammons, founder of a
network of children known as Daughters of Vietnam
Veterans,
www.dovv.us.  “When I heard about Camp C.O.
P.E. I was thrilled to know there was an organization out
there helping military children deal with the anxieties
and emotional realities of having a parent serve in war,”
said Jamaica.  “My father's service ended seven years
before I was born, but the impact it had on him has
affected me throughout my life. That's why I am so
grateful to know that Camp C.O.P.E. is providing therapy
and coping skills to help the new generation of soldiers'
children, and why I want to help them.”

With a distinctive, surreal character or abstract nature, MorzArt’s sculptural works can speak individually to the
viewer. “Many times, the pieces seem to take on a life of their own and tell stories that provoke insight and stir
emotions”, said Robert Morz. Like the piece titled, “
Native Sorrow”, many of MorzArt ’s creations can be
described as an entire novel written onto one work of art. “Native Sorrow” is a free-standing, kiln-fired clay
sculpture reflecting the agony of the native people in the face and hollow eyes of a native  woman. Built as a
desert mountain, from a distance the bust of  a woman with arms raised, crossed above her head is positioned in
surrender to the pain she portrays. Upon closer look one can see the village ruins of native cliff dwellers, a
haunting reminder of the genocide committed upon the Native Americans.
MorzArt will be accepting art supply donations for Camp C.O.P.E. the evening of their open reception, Friday,
November 12th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, and throughout the day of the silent auction, Saturday, November 13th
from 9:00am to 5:00pm.  The event will be held at 908 Main Street, with the venue donated courtesy of Ms.
Jimmie Ann Vaughan. Attendees of the
Veterans' Day Ceremony and Car Show will have the opportunity to
participate in this special event.
